Temp mail: when to use a disposable email, and when not to
A throwaway inbox keeps spam out of your real email. Here's when it's the right tool, and when you should use your own address.

Temp mail gives you an email address that works instantly and disappears later. You can receive emails on it, like sign-up links and verification codes, without giving out your real address.
Good times to use temp mail
- Free trials and downloads that ask for an email before you can continue.
- One-time sign-ups for a site you'll probably never visit again.
- Wi-Fi portals and coupons that only want your email to send you promotions.
- Testing, if you build websites and need to check your own sign-up emails.
When to use your real email instead
- Anything with money, like banks, wallets and shopping accounts.
- Accounts you want to keep. If you forget the password, the reset email goes to the temp inbox, and that inbox may be gone.
- Work and school accounts.
How to use it
- Open Temp Mail. An address is ready for you straight away.
- Copy it and paste it into the sign-up form.
- Keep the page open. New emails show up on their own within seconds.
- Open the email and click the link or copy the code.
Need it for longer?
Free addresses are short-lived on purpose. If you want an address that lasts, choose Premium on the Temp Mail page.
